At the ITEM group, Madis started as a PhD student in autumn 2013. Prior to that, he worked as a international marketing manager for a small manufacturing company and was engaged with two startup companies. In his home country of Estonia, he has consulted and trained several top companies and written about 25 articles for the local management journal Director. Madis has also worked as a teacher of economics and entrepreneurship at the high school level for 5 years. He has supervised a total of 50 student theses at the high school and bachelor level.
His previous education is in business studies from Tallinn University of Technology (cum laude MA; cum laude BA) and from Lahti University of Applied Sciences (BA).
At TU/e, Madis is researching how members of business ecosystems create alignment between themselves and with their broader environment. This research predominantly takes place within the field of sustainable energy business. As a PhD student, Madis is supervised by prof. Sjoerd Romme (TU/e), prof. Jan Holmström (Aalto) and dr.ir. Bob Walrave (TU/e)
